How To Achieve a "Natural Glam" Look ft. Juliana Fink

IMG_1576.JPG

Juliana Fink (@jfinkbeauty) has been my makeup guru for the past year and we've become super close as she's been doing my makeup for all of my important events. Of course, I couldn't get married without her there on my wedding day. After lots of consideration and sending Pinterest inspo pics back and forth, we decided "natural glam" would be perfect look for me for our wedding in The Adirondacks.

To achieve this "natural" look, there's really nothing natural about it. Lol. (Seriously, when she sent me the list I was like OMG.) But nevertheless, I thought I'd share everything she used with you!

Q+A with Juliana @jfinkbeauty

IMG_1278.JPG

Dani: When did your first real *spark of interest* in makeup happen?

Juliana: I always loved makeup but didn’t know how to get started because this field is very competitive with all the “YouTube” self-taught artists, Instagram sensations, etc. So when the opportunity presented itself to work with Metamorphosis New York 12 years ago, I jumped at the chance and never looked back. Now I train their makeup artists and that’s very humbling because I started from nothing, just with a passion. Seeing how the students develop their skills at the end of the classes is very rewarding. That’s one of my favorite parts.

Dani: What ultimately inspired you to become a makeup artist?

Juliana: What inspired me to become a makeup artist and still inspires me now is the feeling I am able to provide someone at the end of a consultation when they look in the mirror and see how beautiful they are, as makeup just enhances what’s already there. Beauty comes from within! I am honored to say that I have had the privilege to work with some amazing women in 12 years! Weddings are my favorite because I get to work with brides on their most important day, and they are always happy. It’s an awesome environment to be in. I have done many other makeup events like NY Fashion Week, professional photo shoots, etc. But my heart is always happiest with my brides.

I also love coaching, so that’s next on my goals list. I'm planning to start a program to mentor other makeup artists. I want to share my tricks with other artists and teach them all the aspects of the industry I have learned to far. There is a lot more to makeup than just applying colors on the face. I also want to bring in the business aspect of the industry so they can be well rounded artists providing the best to their clients. Stay tuned for that. 😉

Dani: What are some weird requests you've gotten from your clients/brides?

Juliana: Every once in awhile I get a request from a bride for a darker smokey eye, glitter, or a dramatic cut crease and that’s awesome because in the bridal industry most brides want a soft natural look. I absolutely love getting to play with makeup to create a look that’s out of the “bridal norm."

Dani: Who in the beauty industry do you look up to as a role model?

Juliana: I look up to so many makeup artists because there is so much to learn ALWAYS! I'm constantly on YouTube watching tutorials of different techniques and products. Some of my favorites are:

• Jaclyn Hill

• Patrick Starrr

• Makeup Geek

Instagram is great as well. I follow many artists that inspire me like:

• @DressYourFace

• @HelderMarucci

• @MichellyPalmaMakeup

I still take makeup classes to improve my artistry and I invest in programs to help me become a better entrepreneur.

Thank you, Juliana.

Hope you all enjoyed this beauty inspired post!

With Love,

Dani
